BMS in small battery packs (e-bikes, three-wheelers, e-motorcycles, and drones) is commonly referred to as a “protection board.” 

A typical protection board includes the following six functions:

SOC/SOH evaluation, balancing, charge/discharge control, fault management, and thermal management.
